En Plein Air

Why on earth would a sane person do this?

Schlep an easel, panel holder, panels to paint on, panel carriers, paints, a bottle of medium, a bottle of solvent, a zillion brushes, a roll of paper towels, an umbrella, sunscreen, a hat, water, bug stuff, etc etc out into the hot sun / pouring rain / driving wind / freezing cold and hang out for a couple hours next to a slithering snake, and a bunch of biting insects and some strange tourists...to do what?  To paint a picture?

I would!  I love it!  There is an immediacy and vibrance to plein air painting that I just can't attain in my comfy studio.  I want to grab onto the light and the moment and try to capture it with color and form.
